Do you want to know how to make a header in Excel? Or are you wondering how to add the footer page 1 to the current worksheet? This tutorial will teach you how to quickly insert one of the predefined headers and footers and how to create a custom one with your own text and graphics.

Headers and footers are displayed only on printed pages, in Print Preview and Page Layout view. In the normal worksheet view, they are not visible.

How to add header in Excel

Inserting a header in an Excel worksheet is quite easy. Here’s what you do:

Now, you can type text, insert a picture, add a preset header or specific elements in any of the three Header boxes at the top of the page. By default, the central box is selected:

When you print out your worksheet, the header will be repeated on each page.

Like an Excel header, a footer can also be inserted in a few easy steps:

As an example, let’s insert a footer that displays a page number and file name:

Voila, our Excel footer is created, and the following information will be printed at the bottom of each page:

Two things you should know about preset headers and footers

When inserting an inbuilt header or footer in Excel, please be aware of the following caveats.

Most of the preset headers and footers in Excel are entered as codes, which makes them dynamic – meaning your header or footer will change to reflect the latest changes you make to the worksheet.

2. Preset headers and footers are inserted in predefined boxes

When adding a built-in header or footer, you cannot control the location of specific elements – they are inserted in the predefined boxes no matter which box (left, center, or right) is currently selected. To position the header or footer the way you want, you can move the inserted elements to other boxes by copying / pasting their codes or add each element individually as explained in the next section.

How to make a custom header or footer in Excel

In Excel worksheets, not only can you add preset headers and footers, but also make your own ones with custom text and images.

This example will show you how to create a custom header with your company logo, page numbers, file name and current date.

To begin with, let’s insert File Name (workbook name) in the central header box:

Then, select the right box and insert Page Number there. As you can see in the screenshot below, this only displays the number:

Our custom Excel header looks pretty nice, don’t you think?

Tips:

To start a new line in a header or footer box, press the Enter key.

To include an ampersand (&) in the text, type two ampersand characters without spaces. For example, to include Products & Services in the header or footer, you type Products && Services.

To add page numbers to Excel headers and footers, insert the &[Page] code in combination with any text you want. For this, use the built-in Page Number element or one of the preset headers and footers. If you enter the numbers manually, you will end up having the same number on each page.

Add headers and footers using the Page Setup dialog box

If case you’d like to create a header or footer for chart sheets or for several worksheets at a time, the Page Setup dialog box is your option.

The Page Setup dialog box will show up where you can select one of the preset headers and footers or make your own one.

To create a custom header or footer, do the following:

For example, this is how you can add a page number to the right hand side of your Excel header: You can also type your own text in any section as well as edit or remove the existing text or codes.

There are two ways to edit headers and footers in Excel – in Page Layout view and by using Page Setup dialog.

Change header or footer in Page Layout view

Now, you select the header or footer text box and make the desired changes.

Change header or footer in the Page Setup dialog

Another way to modify an Excel footer or header is by using the Page Setup dialog box. Please remember that a header and footer of chart sheets can only be edited in this way.

Once you have finished creating or editing your Excel footer or header, how do you get out of the header and footer view and return to the regular view? By doing any of the following:

To delete headers and footers from multiple worksheets at once, carry out these steps:

Select the worksheets from which you want to remove a header or footer.

That’s it! All headers and footers in the selected sheets will be removed.

Now that you know the essentials of Excel headers and footers, the below tips may help you avoid common challenges.

How to add header and footer to all or selected sheets in Excel

To insert headers or footers on multiple worksheets at a time, select all target sheets, and then add a header or footer in the usual way.

How to format text in Excel header and footer

To quickly change the font style or font color of your header or footer, select the text and pick the desired formatting option in the pop-up window:

How to make a different header or footer for the first page

If you’d like to insert a specific header or footer on the first page of your worksheet, you can have it done in this way:

Change to Page Layout view.

Select the header or footer.

Go to the Design tab, and check the Different First Page box.

Set up a special header or footer for the first page.

Tip. If you want to create separate headers or footers for odd and even pages, select the Different Odd & Even Pages box, and enter different information on page 1 and page 2.

How avoid resizing the header / footer text when scaling the worksheet for printing

To keep the font size of the header or footer text intact when the worksheet is scaled for printing, switch to Page Layout view, select the header or footer, go to the Design tab and clear the Scale with Document box.

If you leave this checkbox selected, the header and footer font will scale with the worksheet. For example, the header text will become smaller when you select the Fit Sheet on One Page printing option.

That’s how you add, change and remove headers and footers in Excel. I thank you for reading and hope to see you on our blog next week.

How To Add Header And Footer Code In WordPress (The Easy Way) / 2023

Often you are asked to add header and footer code in WordPress when trying to integrate with web services like Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Google Search Console, etc.

You may also come across WordPress tutorials that might ask you to add some custom CSS or Javascript code to your WordPress header or footer.

By default, WordPress doesn’t provide an option to insert code in your website’s header and footer. Luckily there is an easy solution for beginners.

In this article, we will show you how to easily add header and footer code in WordPress. The goal is to safely add the code without directly editing your WordPress theme files.

If you want to add WordPress header and footer code, there are three possible solutions:

Manually, by editing your theme’s chúng tôi and chúng tôi files

With your theme’s built-in header and footer code feature

Using a plugin

The first option is not beginner friendly because it requires you to add header and footer code by directly editing the chúng tôi and chúng tôi files manually.

The second option is using your theme’s built-in feature. Some WordPress themes like Elegant Themes and Genesis Framework by StudioPress offer a built-in option for quickly adding code and scripts to your WordPress header and footer.

If you are using a theme with a built-in feature, then it seems like a safe and simple solution. However if you change your theme, then all the code snippets added to your website will be gone. This includes site verification in Google Search Console, website analytics via Google Analytics, etc.

This why we always recommend users to use the third option, a headers and footers plugin. This option is by far the easiest and safest method to add header and footer code in WordPress.

After a lot of request from readers, our team has built a 100% free Insert Headers and Footers plugin to let users easily add code to the header and footer in WordPress.

1. Easy, Fast, and Organized: It lets you add codes to your site’s header and footer easily and quickly. Plus, it keeps you organized by allowing you to store all your footer and header codes in one place.

2. Prevents Errors: It helps prevent errors which may occur if you edit your theme files manually.

3. Upgrade or Change Your Theme Without any Worry: The plugin will save your header and footer code in a separate place, so you can update or change your theme without worrying about the code being erased.

With that said, let’s see how to easily add header and footer code in WordPress using Insert Headers and Footers plugin.

Video Tutorial

If you don’t want to watch the video tutorial, then you can continue reading the text version below:

Adding Code to Header and Footer in WordPress

First thing you need to do is install and activate the Insert Headers and Footers plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Once the plugin is activated, go to Settings ” Insert Headers and Footers from your admin panel. After that, you will see two boxes for adding code to header and footer.

The plugin will now automatically load the code in the respective locations on your WordPress site.

You can always edit and remove any code that you don’t want to keep.

You’ll need to keep the plugin installed and activated at all times. Deactivating the plugin will stop adding all custom code to your site.

If you accidentally deactivate the plugin, the code will still be safely stored in your WordPress database. You can simply reinstall or reactivate the plugin, and the code will start appearing again.

Note: You may have to clear your WordPress cache after saving changes, so the code properly appears on the front-end of your website.

Add Headers And Footers To Slides In Powerpoint 2022 For Windows / 2023

Learn how to add Headers and Footers to slides in PowerPoint 2016 for Windows. Adding these elements lets you add extra placeholders with slide numbers, date and time, and extra content.

Product/Version: PowerPoint 2016 for Windows

OS: Windows 7 and higher

The terms Header and Footer typically come from word processing programs. These denote repeated elements that show at the top and bottom of every page. Headers and Footers work similarly on PowerPoint slides: the Footer is a line of text that usually appears at the bottom of a slide, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 1.

Figure 1: Footer in PowerPoint

Typically, the Footer area includes three placeholders:

Date

Footer (You add a message, a company name, or anything you want to be visible on all slides here)

Slide number

By default, the footer with one or more of these three placeholders appears on every slide in a presentation, but you can change that as required. You can also move the content within the Footer area to the top of your slide, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 2. By doing so, you change a Footer to a Header!

Figure 2: Footer moved to the top of the slide

In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to make Footers (or Headers) visible on your slides in PowerPoint 2016:

Open the presentation where you want to add a Header or Footer. Access the Insert tab of theRibbon, as shown in Figure 3 (highlighted in blue).

You’ll see the Header and Footer dialog box, as shown in Figure 5.

Within the Header and Footer dialog box, make sure that the Slide tab (highlighted in red withinFigure 5, above) is selected, so that the options you select or deselect will only affect the slides you see onscreen rather than your printed handouts. Options within theSlide tab of Header and Footer dialog box are explained below, as marked inFigure 5, above:

A. Date and time

Select this check-box to make the date appear on your slide(s). Then choose whether you want the Date and time to Update Automatically, or set them to Fixed, to achieve any of the results explained below:

Update Automatically

Select this radio button and then open the drop-down list (see Figure 6) to choose a date (or date and time) format. You can even choose theLanguage and Calendar type. Changing these options may show different options within the drop-down list you see inFigure 6.

Note: The Language and Calendar type options may be grayed out if you don’t have more than one proofing language installed for PowerPoint 2016 (and Office 2016). Once you have additional languages installed, both these options will be available as shown below in Figure 7.

Fixed

Select this radio button and enter a date in the box, as shown in Figure 8 below (highlighted in red). By default, this uses the current date. Also, the date remains the same no matter when or where you edit or deliver your presentation.

Tip: If you choose the Fixed option, you can actually add anything else, even if it is not a date! Type whatever you want to appear within the Date placeholder.

B. Slide number

Select this check-box to enable the slide number to be visible on your slide(s). Learn more in our Working with Slide Numbers tutorials.

C. Footer

This check-box, when selected, makes the Footer visible on all the slides of your presentation. Also, when this check-box is selected, the box below gets activated where you can enter the content of the footer, as shown inFigure 9. Typically, users like to type in stuff like Confidential, Draft, etc. in this area, or even copyright notices.

D. Don’t show on title slide

This check-box will enable selected options on all slides except the Title slide.

You can similarly add and edit Headers and Footers in your Notes and Handout pages. Look at our Add Headers and Footers to Notes and Handout pages in PowerPoint 2016 tutorial to learn more.

Now you need to apply the choices you made. To do so, you have two options within the Header and Footer dialog box, as explained below:

Save your presentation often.
